The history of Feyenoord
The history of Feyenoord began in 1908 when the club was set up in the Rotterdam pub De Keyzer.
Since its establishment,Feyenoord has played a leading role in the development of football in the Netherlands.
First as an amateur club and since 1954 in professional football.
Back in 1924,scarcely 12.5 years after it was first set up,Feyenoord became Dutch champions for the first time.
In May 1938 it achieved its first international feat by beating the English champions Arsenal by 1-0.
At that time Feyenoord was already playing in its De Kuip stadium,built in 1937.
Feyenoord has achieved many different firsts since the introduction of professional football: in 1965 Feyenoord was the first club to win The Double:National Championship and the KNVB Cup.
Feyenoord was the first Dutch club to win the European Cup Winners'Cup(the present UEFA Champions League)immediately followed by the world Cup,and in 1974 was the first Dutch club to win the UEFA Cup.
In its 2001/2002 season,Feyenoord achieved to win the UEFA Cup for the 2th time in its history!
